I discovered this spectacular place while browsing Google Maps for my next hiking route. The incredible color of the water and the surrounding rocky mountains attracted me. However, when I arrived and saw it in person, the natural beauty pleasantly surprised me and exceeded my expectations.

I drove there by car. A parking lot sits conveniently next to the dam. I created a simple schematic map you can click to enlarge. A hiking trail begins at the parking lot and follows the southern shore of the lake. The trail is fairly easy to follow, running at a certain height above the water. Trees shade the path, keeping it cool on hot sunny days.

I spotted kayaks on the opposite shore from afar. My curiosity led me to drive across the dam after completing the trail, following navigation to reach this spot on the map. When I arrived, I discovered it was a kayak rental. Their website (kayakbeni.com) provides contact details, and you can call to book a kayak. They also speak English, making it convenient for international visitors.

What I would like to say in conclusion is that I am very glad I found this place. I even came back to visit it again on another weekend. Besides, it is not too far from the coast. So I can confidently recommend Guadalest as a must-visit destination!
